Forces In Action
Background Information for Teachers
This resource has been created for teachers in Year 3. The objective is that students will learn about humans design and create things in an ethical way to serve a purpose, (ACARA, 2016). Students will also learn that design and technologies are an imperative part of their future. Students will achieve this through the design process, which will be scaffolded by the teacher throughout the unit.
Throughout the unit and assessment task, students will develop the key idea of Project Management, by allowing students to plan, organise, evaluate and monitor their timelines and activities, while also being taught how to take into account ethical and safety considerations when creating and building ball run. The key idea of Design Thinking is also catered for through out the unit and assessment by giving students the opportunity to design, visualise, generate, analyse and evaluate to meet the criteria for success, (ACARA, 2016).
This resource will integrate aspects of the Critical and Creative Thinking, Literacy and Information and Communication Technology, (ACARA, 2016); and enables differentiation throughout the unit, as students determine and design their own product, individually and/or collaboratively, and engages with a number of different activities throughout the unit.
